Design duo Storm Thorgerson Aubrey Powell better known by their collective name Hipgnosis are renowned in the music world for creating iconic cover art for rock and roll greats. From Pink Floyd to Paul McCartney, Hipgnosis have been behind some of the most well known and well loved album artworks, shaping the aesthetic of the music industry since the late 1960s. This new series of limited editions brings the images back to life as archival inkjet prints, each one in beautiful, never before seen, clarity. ‘Presence Led Zeppelin’ features the original artwork from the 1976 Led Zeppelin album of the same name. A 1950s family sit around a table, smiling at the abstract black object on its centre. Playing with notions of presence and absence, the image which blends photography with collage technique was so popular with the band that they named the album after the esoteric concept at its core.
